Avery is an optimist and John Paul a consummate cynic, which leads to a lot of witty banter between them. Bipolar would be my first guess on the diagnosis of her mind, but the shear evilness of plotting was very ugly.

In the end, I really liked both Avery and John Paul, hated Jilly i felt she should have suffered more, but being the sociopath she was, I dont think she was capable of remorse and felt bad for Carrie. Garwood’s most vivid character is the antagonist. The author of numerous bestsellers, she lives near Kansas City, Missouri. Their survival depends on their own instincts, ingenuity, and stamina and a little outside help. She has some vacation time coming to her and agrees to join her Aunt Carrie at Utopia, only to arrive and find her reservation cancelled and her aunt missing.

Also there is little angst or drama involved. Compared to psycho-siren, he was almost harmless. John Paul and Avery had potential to be a great couple, but I didn’t feel connected to them on a romance-level. And this one did.
