Oct 16, Jesus rated it it was amazing. Gangs are a serious problem in our world today and I think the Sitomer did an excellent job of drawing attention to such a pressing matter. Now he’s been placed into the capable hands of Mariana Diaz, the tough probation officer who just might save him from himself.

This is a big part in the story because as he’s about to be introduced to one of his best friends. I found this very interesting because I see a little bit of that in me.

In Alan Sitomer’s book, Homeboyz, Sitomer presents us with a seventeen year old teenager named Dixon Theodore Anderson Aka “teddy”who suffers a big loss after gang members randomly gunned down Tina Teddy’s younger sister in a drive-by shootingwhile she was getting an icecream.

Florida Teens Read Nominee I’ve appreciated that other of Sitomer’s books end in a more “things are OK but not perfect” fashion which seems more fitting to reality. The author describes him as exceptionally smart and that he plans things out to Book: Homebozy found Homeboyz to sometimes stray into preachy territory, even borderline political, when discussing things like corrupt school committees and the juvenile justice system. Anderson sinks into deep depression while Pops struggles to run both the household and his declining laundry business.

This book is officially one of my favorite pieces of young adult literature I’ve ever read. This book is homboyz moving and inspiring and it touched my heart a little.

This text perfectly reaches the intended audience and everyone who reads it should have no problem following along. You just want to keep flipping the page. When this book started, and even as aaln progressed, I harbored a lot of hope for this book. According to gangsta logic, Tina doesn’t even count as a statistic.

Mar 05, Oscar rated it really liked it. It contrasts the setting in which I live in but I go to the ghetto a lot because of my friends, so I can an even better picture of the setting. My students like this book. This book really got to me, not because of teddy suddenly changing his life.


He was unsuccessful the first time trying to get revenge and got arrested. I personally loved this book! The setting is in the ghetto, the author makes you feel as though you were really there.
